SEPULTURA - Catanduva, Brasil - 06/04/02

This Saturday Sepultura played in Brazil.. IT was the first show of the upcoming Brazil tour, that will cross Brazil until July, I think.

Great! Awesome!! I just didn't like they exchanged One Man Army for Who Must Die? (I prefer One Man Army) , but ok... Awesome set!! Can't wait to see!!

About the new song, it's not that fast, it's beginning remembers Sepulnation, with the drums and stuff, but in the middle there are some guitar riffs that remember the Arise era, very Thrash metal sounding... In general people said that it's most similar to the Against album sound. Well, let's see... I haven't heard it yet, but... let's see.

People also commented about Derrick's vocals... They said it's fucking awesome, better that any time, very powerful and secure... I think Derrick will be the great surprise of the net album, for all of us... Including some songs... Some very thrash, some not so. Let's wait and check out for ourselves!!!

Bem um breve resumo do show.

O show foi praticamente dividido em duas partes:
Dante/Old Songs

Do Dante destaco a False e Convicted in Life. Muito foda.

Já da segunda parte o show aqueceu mesmo do meio pra frente, Desperate Cry, Escape to The Void, Beneth The Remains e Boycott. Ápice do show foi quando o Andreas anunciou o Jean como novo baterista da banda e eles tocaram Territory. Arise também foi sensacional. No meio do show rolaram uns trechinhos rápidos de Inner Self/Screams Behind The Shadows/Mass Hypnosis/Orgasmatron..

Voltaram pro Bis com Kaiowas, Come Back Alive (que pela primeira vez eu gostei ao vivo) e Roots Bloody Roots.

Destaco a empolgação do Andreas e a performance do Jean, já me acostumei à pegada que ele colocou nos velhos clássicos do SEPULTURA.

A Música nova, The Treatment, foi bem recebida pelo público e é um som mais lento... com umas guitarras mais "noise". Difícil comentar, eu gostei mas precisaria ouvir gravado mesmo.

A musica nova na parte do vocal tem tipo aquela levada de Convicted in Life na bateria (prato conducao comendo solto), tem umas partes que fica mais trash (tupa tupa...rs). O destaque nela na minha opiniao ficou no vocal do Derrick e na bateria do Jean, muito bom!

tipico show do SEPULTURA, muito bom, nas musicas do Dante fica mais de boa e nas "veias" o meiao fervia, dos ultimos shows foi uim dos melhores, foi bem descontradido, Andreas como sempre muito empolgado e Jean arrebentando, tambem gostei da pegada e de um detalhe e outro que ele coloca nos sons antigos.

a musica nova pareceu bem "moderninha", mas realmente tem que ouvir gravada pra sentir

a principal diferenca que senti desce show dos outros foi o tempo das musicas, a maioria era praticamente o tempo de disco, em algumas foi estranho, por estar acostumado com uma velocidade maior em show, mas na maioria dos casos os sons ficaram muito mais "pesados"

resumindo um puta show, tanto por parte da banda quanto do publico

Primeira vez que eu vi o Sepultura sem o Igor e o legal é que da pra dizer que dá pra dizer que os caras acertaram a mão com o Derick, as músicas Roorback/Dante ficaram legais desde que a pessoa tenha em mente que 50% dos caras que fizeram a banda ser o que era no começo dos anos 90 não estão mais lá.

O Jean manda super bem em algumas músicas antigas como Arise e caga em outras, tipo, Territory, Refuse e Slave New World.

De todos os trocentos shows do Sepultura que eu fui esse foi o menos emocionante, não que tenha sido ruim, pelo contrário, mas eu acho que já estou ficando velho... Nem o do Slayer eu achei tão bom.

Chega a ser meio revoltante os caras tocarem partes rápidas de "Inner Self", "Screams Behind The Shadows", "Mass Hypnosis", "Orgasmatron" e "Meaningles Moviments" e depois tocarem Bullet The Blue Sky... Poderiam ter tocado Piranha ou
Messiah.

Música nova: Acho que ela fica entre a Saga e a Convicted In Life. Começa meio parecida com a Apes Of God e depois tem uma levada mais cadenciada (bem legal) tipo aquele da Rumors ai rola uma pontezinha thrash e volta para a levada mais cadenciada ai logo depois o Andreas começa a fazer uns ruídos toscos seguido de mais um solo preguiçoso do Alemão e estraga a música. Do Nation pra frente eu acho que muitas músicas são mal organizadas e essa parece ser mais uma.

SEPULTURA - Shilllong, India- 31/11/07

Now, I haven't been much of a Sepultura fan post-Cavalera era but that doesn't stop any self-respected rocker from watching them

LIVE, especially when you know they are performing around 100kms by the neighbourhood!!!

Who gives a shit about whether the Cavalera brothers are in the present line-up or not??Fuhgetbout Max, Derrick Green is here to

stay & Sepultura will go places with him.

Me & a guy I befriended on Orkut reach the venue after 4 hours of ass-banging journey & find it 2 b totally empty!!! A slight

confusion is actually going on about the timings of the gig....We encounter a guy 4m the Sepu mgt....An excerpt below:-

Me:-Excuse me, sir!

He:-Yeah!!

Me:-Are you from the organising side?

He:-No, I am from Sepultura!!!

Me:-(Surprised)But you aren't in the band, are you?

He:-No(laughs), I am from the Sepultura management, bro! So, where are you from?

We:-Guwahati

He:-So, how's like the publicity been there?

Me:-Almost nil!!

He:-(Shocked)Are you sure?Coz we've been told about huge posters donning each & every place near Shillong

Me:-You've been duped, man!!Publicity in Ghy. has been minuscule. A lot of guys thought we were jokin about the gig here. Its onlyin here that u find posters almost everywhere.

The guy with me:-When will the show start?

He:-A lil' confusion is goin here. Its supposed to start at 5:30 but the police wants it to be over by 6:00. We are tryin our best...Let'ssee!!

The guy with me:-Let's hope for the best!!

He:-BTW, did the channels publicise it?

Me:-Yes, VH1 did it.

He:-Is it local or its like one VH1 for the whole country?

Me:-No only 1 all over the whole nation.

He:-How many ppl do u think's gonna turn up??

Us:-BLEH!!!

He:-You know what? Thanks for comin man & Fuck those Bastards(points to a few policemen).

We won't start before evening(widelygrins)

Me:-Yeah man! Rock On & thanx for comin down here man.

He:-Its always our pleasure man. Stay true bro.

So we are here at the venue. Only 2 of us & around 400 fuckin khakiwallahs. You could sense trouble here, especially after the "mild" lathicharge during the Eric MArtin show....Anyways, time to get a few puffs.........

At last some action on the stage. Project Blend Limited (local band) have the sweet honour of opening for thrash metal titans Sepultura......You can just imagine how big this stage can be for an up & coming band & they sure didn't dissapoint the tag of an opening act. They are doin their soundcheck & playin some random parts. By that time the crowd swells from 2 to an amazing 10!!

After soundcheck we keep waiting & notice some more guys coming in. I notice the Lucid Recess(Ghy band) brothers Amitabh & Sidharth get in. We say hi & get the best place i.e. the front row against the barricades! Its around 4:45 now & PBL are finally readyto begin!!

PHEW... Gotta say its an awesome band & is tight as hell. They breeze through their setlist which is almost all OCs (APPLAUSE!!). I particularly liked "The Last Idol" & a few others which I totally forgot...They also covered L.O.G.'s 'Laid To Rest' & Death's 'Lack Of Comprehension'......A few locals coined this heady mix of N.W.O.A.H.M. & techinical-prog death metal as "METAL KHASI"....LOL!! Theyalso introduce their new drummer Jerry(fantastic drummer BTW).

Crowd count now is about 2500 & most of us cant help but wonder & at times loudly murmur about the poor publicity of theevent....Anyways, the crowd that's present totally laps up what PBL has to offer & wants more but the band leaves the stage for the BIGguys.

A break of around half an haour ensues & Hatebreed's playing at the P.A. system. Its almost 6 pm now & there's no sign of crowd trouble & the crowd's now touching almost 10,000...Its 6:05 now & almost dark here....The lights are glowing all in their thousandwatt glory(Total Pawnage here)...The Sepu. technicians are checking out the sound & the crowd's growin by the moment. Itstouched almost 17,000 now!! The band finally, comes onto the stage amid maddening roars & claps....

Total METCHUL momentman...I tell you!!! The very satrting riffs of Andreas Kisser starts off a headbanging frenzy & the band makes sure there's no respite.

In fact, the band just raises the bar a few notches higher with every song. The band mostly do a complete revisit of their old-agedays & we just loooove it that way... Crazy moshpits ensues during Refuse/Resist. Dante XXI is also represented during theirset... D'UH(coz Dante XXI is what they are supposed to promote)!!!

Their setlist, if I remember well is as follows (in no particular order):

-Biotech,Beneath the remains ,Territory,Mass hypnosis,Refuse/resist,Troops of doom,Bullet the blue sky ,Sepulnation, Convicted in life & Roots.....

They sign off with 'Roots' & the crowd's repeated chanting of 'ONCE MORE' goes unheard. The band thanks the crowd in random English & Brazilian & you can make out that they really mean it.....

Oh & Derrick does the Nameste to perfection..... Just hope that the show was a bit longer but 1 hour & 15 mins of crazy headbanging was well worth the pain I took by travelling in rickety Tata Sumos & potholed highways. BTW i also got clicked with Derrick....lol!!!

For a day Shillong became SEPULNATION!!!

N.B.:- Have been hearing a lot of guys saying that the show registered an attendance of about 2500 people only.....Frankly speakin, you could hardly make out the number of people from the front row, but I surely felt it was more than that!!!

@READERSThere's a correction:-Crowd count was only 2500 during the show but as I was standing in the front row, I coud hardly make out the actual number of persons at the back....Please pardon the inconvenience caused, if any!!!

SEPULTURA - Lima, Perú - 04/04/04

El domingo 4 de Abril del 2004 se realizó el concierto de Sepultura en la ciudad de Lima, esto sucedió en el centro de esparcimientos de la Universidad Ricardo Palma en el Km 10 de la Panamericana Sur.

Días antes mis amigos y yo nos habíamos enterado de que la banda brasilera Sepultura venía a Lima, al comienzo no lo podíamos creer porque rara vez vienen grupos conocidos de Metal acá a Perú y pensabamos que nos iban a cabezear con la plata de las entradas.Luego de comporbar que era cierto compramos las entradas sin dudar y es que aunque ya no estaba Max Cavalera (cantante original de la banda) seguía siendo Sepultura y de hecho que iba a tocar sus temas clásicos.

Llegó el día del concierto y como era de esperarse fuimos en mancha para verlo, La gente de Inferno estaba presente: estábamos El Chato, Chemo y Yo, por la bajada estaban: Pepe penales y el Pibe (Jossepi) y nuestros amigos invitados eran: Diego, Gallo hervido y un pata de Chemo.

Nos habían citado a partir de las 4 pm y como la gran mayoría de nosotros era una de las primeras veces que ibamos a un concierto de Metal y pensabamos que todo era puntual. Estuvimos haciendo cola alrededor de media hora y luego nos hicieron pasar, una vez dentro estuvimos sentados en un pequeño descampado en donde vendían chela, ron y comida pero para variar todo estaba caro y solo habíamos llevado plata para nuestros pasajes, no llaves, no celulares, no nada.

Dos horas después y que la gente empezó a pitear nos hicieron hacer una cola al lado de la cancha de fútbol en donde se realizaría el evento, se estaba haciendo de noche y la gente empezaba a gritar cojudes y media recuerdo que alguien dijo por ahi:

-Conchasumadre apúrense mañana es Lunes que creen que los metaleros no trabajamos !!!!

La gente empezó a cagarse de la risa, luego empezaron los cánticos insultando a los tombos por querer agarrarnos a macanasos y bueno en un momento dado apareció un gringo que supongo sería el manager y al cual le gritaban "Golum" dijo:

-Quieren Sepultura !!!

- Sí !!!!!

- Tomen Sepultura !!!

El muy hijo de puta nos hizo pasar a la volada osea que toda la cola se fue al diablo y había que saltar un pequeño muro de un metro mas o menos o quizás más la cosa fue que la gente subía alocada y cuando me iba acercando al muro a todo pique salté pero no logré subir me quedé a mitad todo viejo y cansado hasta que Jossepi me empujó antes de que toda la manada me pase por encima.

Irónicamente Chemo fue el primero en llegar y cuando se agarró de la baranda se dió con la sorpresa de que recién la habían pintado y se manchó todo de plomo. Un vez ubicados en la cancha de fútbol los malditos se pusieron a hacer recién la prueba de sonido, habrán estado alrededor de una hora más.

A las 10 de la noche salió el primer grupo nacional, era un grupo de metal llamado Enslave (no se si se escribe así) la cosa es que empezaron a tocar y con el sonido del doble bombo empezó un pogaso y sentimos que nos ibamos a caer en la tierra ya que toda la gente te jalaba, al chato toda la pose de "soy metalero" se le quedó en su casa ya que en ese momento me vió con una cara de asustado y antes de que lo jalaran se agarró a mi fornido brazo y lo rescaté. Hasta ese momento decidimos irnos al fondo y no ser parte del pogo sino escuchar a las bandas nacionales. Una vez terminó Enslave, salió Reset y todos los chibolos poseros empezaron a saltar como locos, para ellos era como ver a Limp bizkit ya que estos patas eran unos poserasos así que nos fuimos hacia adelante y empezamos a mentarle la madre al cantante y a gomear a los mocosos en el pogo e incluso le aventaron una botella al guitarrista en la cabeza. Luego salió Contracorriente, nunca los había oído pero después de ese día hubiese querido que eso siguiera así ya que eran una mierda, los guitarristas eran buenos pero el punk era demasiado simple para ellos, para colmo eran unos pituquitos de casi 35 años queriendo ser chibolos y tocando punk, a ellos también les empezaron a tirar botellas. Para cerrar con las bandas nacionales salió Natura (para variar otra banda que no conocía) la verdad es que nadie les prestó atención y eso que cantaron Refuse/Resist de Sepultura lo cual me pareció ridículo ya que ibamos a ver a Sepultura y era obvio que preferíamos la version de ellos que la de Natura.

Una vez terminadas las bandas nacionales todo quedó en silencio y la gente se empezó a acumular, para variar detrás mío había un chibolo todo posero con su muñequera de puas y me las incaba en la espalda cada vez que la gente empujaba, recuerdo que me pidió disculpas varias veces hasta que muy amable le dije "sacate esa huevada" y se fue.A eso de las 12 am salió Sepultura encabezados por Igor Cavalera y detrás de él el resto de la banda, Igor tenía puesto un polo de la U por lo que la gente se emocionó más y empezaron a tocar una canción que solo ellos conocerían así que no se armó mucho. No recuerdo el orden pero si que a la siguiente canción se armó un pogaso y nos separamos ya que la gente te jalaba de un lado para otro, el chato y Diego se fueron hacia un lado, luego se les unirían Pepe y Gallo hervido mientras que al medio de todo el pogo estábamos Chemo, su pata, Pibe y Yo saltando y cantando como locos, no se cuantas patadas y empujones recibí pero los recibí contento, tenía una sonrisa increible, en mis ojos había un brillo especial y mientras saltabamos y golpeabamos a otras personas veía en la cara de Chemo y Pibe una felicidad similar o quizás mayor a la mía, en cuanto al pata de Chemo, él escuchaba a Juanes pero igual se divertía. Sepultura toco temas clásicos como Troops of Doom, Arise, Refuse/Resist, Biotech is Godzila, Attitude y muchas más que no recuerdo ahora, la cosa fue que al terminar el concierto Sepultura se despidió diciendo:

-Sepultura do Brazil presents to you... Un,Dos,Tres va !!! y tocaron Roots Bloody Rootsen ese momento saltamos más alto aún y con más fuerza empujabamos ya que era la última de la noche, hasta ahora recuerdo los gritos de woooo y yeah !!! que dábamos.

Al terminar el concierto nos cagabamos de sed y tuvimos que robar el hielo que usaban para enfriar las chelas y empezamos a chupar hielo, caminamos hasta el paradero y nadie nos quería llevar, las piernas no nos daban para más, sentíamos que podíamos echarnos a jatear en la calle por el cansancio. Para variar nuestras ropas estaban totalmente sucias y el pelo lleno de polvo, recuerdo haberme visto en un espejo y mi polo blanco estaba totalmente sucio y percudido, tenía los dientes negros por toda la tierra que había tragado, mi pelo (que en esa época estaba largo) estaba totalmente blanco por el polvo y mis tabas estaban totalmente asquerosas, parecía que me habían cuadrado unos pirañas y me hubiesen sacado la mierda. Un taxista se apiadó y nos llevó, cuando llegué a mi casa a las 2 am me metí a la ducha y empezé a toser polvo, me eché a dormir y al día siguiente no podía ni moverme fue como si hubiera hecho ejercicio toda la noche.

Después de todos los golpes, la garganta ronca, el cuerpo adolorido y quedar semi sordo, si alguien me pregunta si volvería a ir a ese concierto le diría que sí porque la verdad que estuvo de Puta Madre !!!
